Spring is in the air and we are getting ready to kick off our 2026 schedule with our 4th annual Ouachita Wilds Rogaine (4/8 Hour) on March 14th at The Nature Conservancy’s Blue Mountain Recreational Area just west of Little Rock. We have used this location for the past two years and will be using it one more time before we move to a new location next year. If you haven’t had a chance to come out and orienteer in this area, I hope you can join us as you are in for a treat! In addition to fun mountain biking/hiking trails and beautiful views of the mountains and Lake Maumelle, the woods are (mostly) open and fun to navigate (we can’t promise there aren’t a few thorn thickets out there though). To join us, you can register here. We have a 4-hour and 8-Hour timed cut-off, open to teams of 2 to 4 people and solos.

In addition to the Rogaine, we will be hosting our first Navigational Clinic/Mini-Course on the same day at Blue Mountain. The Rogaine starts at 8:00 a.m. and the clinic will start at 9:00 a.m. We have had to move this first clinic a few times as we had been hoping to host it at Boyle Park in Little Rock as an opening for a permanent orienteering course getting installed there. However, the Parks Department has had a few other priorities so far this year and it will not be ready quite yet. We are hoping to see it fully ready by April and will add a clinic/grand opening event at Boyle to our schedule once we know that timing is solid.

As for the rest of our currently confirmed schedule, we will be hosting a regular orienteering meet with White, Yellow, and Orange courses on May 24th.  More to come on that soon! And we will return to Northwoods in Hot Springs for another Which Way is North? 4/8 Hour Rogaine on October 31st. Yes we know this is Halloween, that just means you can wear your orienteering costume all day. 😊

Thank you and see you in the woods soon!
